Do You Outsource Your Thinking & Is It Slowly Killing You?

We, as human beings, have the incredible ability to think.

But, not only can we think, we can think about our thoughts…as so on.

This is refereed to as Metacognition

Metacognition is “cognition about cognition”, “thinking about thinking”, “knowing about knowing”, becoming “aware of one’s awareness” and higher-order thinking skills.

This is an ability that grew out of necessity. Our brain power has evolved over time in order to help us go beyond survival and enter a thriving state of being.

The question that now stands above all is, has it gone too far?

Have we passed the threshold of evolution where we are now slowly killing ourselves?

The answer is yes.

One of the beauties of being human is that we get to explore our inner workings. There is an infinite universe inside you, not just outside.

Yet we live in the external.

  • We watch news
  • We watch Netflix
  • We watch YouTube videos
  • We take courses
  • We attend webinars
  • We read books
  • We listen to podcasts
  • We scroll social
  • We read emails

This is how we think.

We are not thinking, but instead implanting other peoples thoughts in our head.

You may argue, “well yes, but then I make it my own and use it to make decisions in life.”

Let’s be honest, no you don’t. Not really anyways.

And while some things on that list have a small place, they are minuscule compared to sitting in your car, alone, with your own thoughts.

Stop hijacking your thoughts. They are trying so hard to tell you something magical, but they can’t get through to you.

If you’re saying to yourself, “well, I just need to learn a bit more information before I can truly know.”

I call bullshit.

You consume more information in a day than anyone living 100 years ago consumed in a lifetime. And they were probably pretty happy and successful.

So take the information that you have stored away and sit with it.

Expect nothing at first.

Sit in silence in your car, room or nature and see what happens. See what your inner universe tells you.

Maybe nothing…

But in a few days, a week, you may have the best idea you’ve ever had.

Or you may have the most clarity you’ve ever experienced.

Otherwise, go back to consuming loads of useless information that slowly kills you.

I want to hear.
