✅ In this short and sweet article, I will cover how to validate your coaching business and land your first client from scratch in 30 days for less than $50.
Speed is key in entrepreneurship 🏎️💨
That’s because many times we suck at first. Many times our product or service doesn’t pan out how we hoped.
This means we need to be able to get up and running as soon as possible without spending too much time and money to learn what worked and what didn’t. Okay…you get that.
So how do we do this as a coach? If you’re a new coach who doesn’t know where to start or if you’ve launched but can’t gain traction, this is what you need to do.
This strategy follows the Rocket Launch analogy that I’ve mapped out here.
Build your rocket as quickly and cheaply as possible, see if it takes off, and then make it awesome once you’re in space.

Okay, here we go…🚀
Find your Sweet spot
[$0] ~ 2 – 5 hours
The first problem I see people make when starting an entrepreneurial pursuit — they forget to find their sweet spot. They quickly jump into something because they heard it was trending or they heard it was lucrative.
Maybe they think they will enjoy it, but a couple of months down the line they give up because it’s not really their thing.
The Sweet spot: When your skills passions and purpose collide to create your unique genius that must be shared with the world.
So how do you find it? There are many ways. I have a 3-Day Challenge that walks you discovering your sweet spot. Once you have this, everything else falls into place. Don’t skip this very important step.
Research the heck out of your market
[$0] ~ 4 – 8 hours
How do we find the perfect humans that need our help the most?
There are many ways to do this. You can start with google and just see what is out there already in your market. You can go to Quora.com and search questions and answers. You can go to Facebook groups and forums to get inside the head of your ideal client.
Start consolidating tons of information about your people.
- The way they talk
- Where they hang out
- What they like to do
- What they buy
- How they think
- What problems they have
- How they’ve tried to solve these problems
- What emotions they feel.
Consolidate all of this in an organized folder [I used google drive because, easy + free].
[$0] ~ 4 – 6 hours
Once you’ve nailed your sweet spot and your ideal client [which may continue to evolve as you work through all this] it’s time to throw together your program outline, version 1. I say throw because it doesn’t need to be perfect.
But it does need to be a solid blueprint that will guide you through your first client. It also goes without saying that you must offer powerful transformation / results / value for your client or else the entire thing goes down in flames.
But you knew that 😊 [Don’t let imposter syndrome get you]
I used Workflowy to organize my entire program [and life]. Your offer must keep in mind your sweet spot and your perfect client.
[$0] ~ 4 – 8 hours
Get their attention by ‘twisting the knife’ a bit. Meaning, in your research you found out their biggest pain point and know exactly how they think and speak about it. Use their language to make them realize their pain.
By speaking to their biggest pain better than they can, they assume you have the solution.
Welcome them into your world with a red carpet. Surprise and delight them throughout the entire experience. Build trust and be authentic. This is the free Content that helps them see the light. They need to see that you obviously have the solution to their main pain point.
Offer them the solution and understand that the majority of them will not invest in you, that’s okay. Many of them will need weeks or months, heck even years to know, like and trust you enough to invest.
[$50 – $100 per year] ~ 3 – 8 hours [unless outsourced]
Overview: Attention > Drive traffic to free offer > Email capture > Deliver + delight > Build relationship> Book a call > Close or nurture.
Time to set up your Minimum viable system. What tools can you use to set up a simple funnel as fast and affordable as possible? Remember, we are sprinting to program validation, we can make it look nice later.
Drive all traffic to your free offer and collect their email to deliver the value and/or follow up. When the time is right, offer a ‘next level offer’ that will provide them with even more value or some hand-holding. This is typically a phone call. No need for an application funnel yet, unless you’re getting tons of calls that are not a good fit.
The more calls the better, even if you aren’t closing. This is by far the best way to get inside the head of your ideal client. In fact, your offer, target market or program may shift a bit as you learn more.
Always be open and able to pivot when necessary. Don’t fall in love [yet]. That’s the beauty of the MVP.
You’ll need a few simple tools for this funnel. Most of the tools are free or inexpensive.
There are awesome tools out there for funnels such as Clickfunnels, but that will run you about $97 per month after the initial 14 day trial period. I recommend if you are just starting to start with a simple WordPress site that you can use for this entire process and then easily connect things like Clickfunnels as you scale.
- One page website — I host my WordPress site with siteground beacause they are fast, easy to use, secure, affordable and have amazing support [one of the best, if not the best out there]. Simply reach out to them and have them walk you through a simple set up if you’ve never done it yourself. Pay the minimum possible and don’t sign up for any yearly subscription yet. [$4 / month, first year] < 1 hour
- Domain name [~$15 / year] < 1 hour
- You can just get a package from siteground [domain + hosting for about $50 per year] they do free setup and you can be up in running quickly. Of course, do your research first, I’ve used GoDaddy and Bluehost along with a handful of drag + drop site builders and none of them perform like siteground + elementor 👇
- Page builder — Elementor, The world’s leading WordPress page builder. Use a landing page template to quickly knock out your offer opt-in page. < 1 hour
- Email Marketing Tool — I’ve used everything under the sun. If you know you’ll be using this tool in the future and want to invest a bit, I recommend ActiveCampaign [$9 / month] and Convertkitor [$30 / month]. Do a bit of research to make sure it fits you best. I love ActiveCampaign because it’s easy to use yet super robust as you grow and allows for insane segmentation, automation, and personalization. If you don’t want to invest, use something like Mailchimp or Constant Contact. [$0 – $30] < 1 hour
- Email sequence — Set up your simple sequence for those who sign up for your content. You can put these together yourself, hire an expert copywriter, or use a guide such as Dripscripts. ~ 2 – 4 hours
- Booking Software — You’ll need a way to book calls that is easy for the booker and ideally automates into your system. I’ve used Book Like a Boss and Calendly before. Both work great, but I currently use Book Like a Boss because it’s simple, customizable and robust for growth. I also love the way it looks. Automate this as much as possible by placing your booking link on the offer page and in the email sequence. < 1 hour
Once you have it built, this is what you do.
Drive traffic [covered in the next step] to your offer page where they sign up via email. Your email marketing tool delivers the offer and provides them with a nice welcome.Immediately after the offer, provide them with a special opportunity for even more value, such as a phone call. If they sign up for the call, go on to speak with them, provide amazing value, and sign them as a client or not. If they don’t book the call [majority] nurture them through your email sequence for weeks or months while sneaking in opportunities for the call [ie: putting it in the P.S.].
The system runs on autopilot. The only parts that don’t are the front and back ends of the funnel. Driving traffic and getting on the call. This means that the majority of your time can go into driving traffic through organic strategies.
[$0] < 1 hour per day
In today’s world, there is no shortage of marketing strategies. This is really where you get to be creative, authentic, and experimental.
There is no one way to reach people. Pick a few and try them out. Track your progress and then make the necessary changes. This is what separates those who succeed from those who give up early.
“Yeah I tried that, it doesn’t work.”
Maybe it didn’t work at first. Maybe you were really close to a breakthrough. Maybe you just needed to change one small thing. Become a scientist and don’t take things personally.
For the first month, everything you do is manual. Scaling comes later. Based on your research, go to where your people hang out and strike up a conversation like you were meeting them in person.
“Hey Shoshanna, so great to connect on this fabulous app 😊 Looks like we have some things in common! I love you website! If I may, what is your main professional focus for the next 30 days? “
Or something to that effect. Here are some common places you can go to engage. Small ponds if you will.
- Facebook groups
- Shapr [networking app]
- Bumble biz
Pick 1 to 3 platforms and ‘touch’ 30 people a day, 150 per week. Track your outreach using google sheets.
As long as your market and your message are halfway decent, you’ll land your first client in the first 30 days easy! That’s all we are going for, one client. That is a huge validation.
Just look at the numbers…
30 touches/day > 150 touches/week > 600 touches in 30 days
~ 7 conversations/day > 35 conversations/week > 140 convos in 30 days
~ 1.5 booked calls/day > 7.5 booked calls/week > 37.5 booked calls in 30 days
Can you close one client out of 37.5 calls??!
All we care about is one client.
All of this outreach only takes up about 30 minutes to an hour a day. Or, 6-10 minutes increments throughout the day while waiting on your coffee, before/after work or while on the toilet 💩
If you can’t land your first client in 30 days by following this brutally simple [but not easy] strategy, that’s okay, just go back to the drawing board and start over. A month in the grand scheme of your long-term coaching business is nothing. Make sure you get it right.
The more you reach out, the better it will get. You will know where to go and how to position yourself to increase your return on time invested. A week in and you’ll start to feel some momentum! 💪
From there we can start to clean things up, automate, outsource and scale to infinity. But first thing’s first, we must make sure our service is even needed.
First Client –> Deliver transformation
This part is easy.
You’ve already done all the heavy lifting.
Now you just need to follow the blueprint you already laid out, record your videos, schedule the coaching calls and provide the transformation.
Record the entire process so you can put them into a members area for future clients.
This is when you can really start to scale, but I won’t get into that here.
My Offer to You
I help people set this entire process up fast [and correctly] so they can build their thriving coaching business and create an impact-driven life asap.
I’d love to help you find clarity + create an action plan free of charge [not going to try and sell you-no pressure]
