Brain Fog Guidelines

This is a detailed list of 22 things to live by for clearing your brain fog by cleaning up what you ingest.

I got this exact list from the natural doctor who was a pivotal part of my healing.

    • Eat whole, fresh, unprocessed, natural foods in 40-40-20 ratio. Anything that would exist in the Garden of Eden. If you question whether or not you can eat it in good conscience, ask yourself, “does this exist in the Garden of Eden?” If so, you may eat it.
    • Eat only foods that will spoil, but eat them before they do.
    • Try to eat locally and in season.
    • Avoid white carb things (sugars and starches)
    • Avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup like the plague.
    • Avoid packaged foods (they usually contain trans fats, hydrogenated fats, artificial colors, preservatives; if they don’t they should be OK).
    • You can find plenty of protein within the plant kingdom. There is no need to eat animal products anymore. When consuming animal products you risk also consuming hormones, antibiotics, puss, blood, toxins, flesh, feces, and many other by-products that harm your health and increase your brain fog. There is a plethora of nutrients within plant-based foods.
    • Avoid dairy products because of additives, hormones and antibiotics. They are also associated with allergies and excess mucus productions, There are plenty of dairy alternatives in stores now.
    • Use only traditional fats and oils including extra virgin olive oil, expeller pressed sesame and flax and the tropical oils – coconut and palm.
    • Do not overheat them in cooking as this can convert them to trans fats. NO trans/hydrogenated fats (our body doesn’t recognize them!)
    • Eat fresh fruits and vegetables, preferably organic, in salads and soups or lightly steamed with coconut oil (or the best oil you can find). Vegetables:Fruits = 2:1. Eat fruits as they come, by themselves if possible, and before noon preferably.
    • It is best to avoid most grains (GMO, grains sitting too long in the silos etc) as it is very difficult to obtain true whole grains. Most are processed. Many nuts are old, rancid, over-roasted and may have a fungus that produces aflatoxin. If you can find them use fresh, whole grains and nuts that have been prepared by soaking, sprouting, or sour leavening to begin to neutralize phytic acid and other anti-nutrients.
    • Vegan bone broth–The body easily absorbs it, allowing ready assimilation of nutrients that protect bones, teeth, tissues, and organs. When you accumulate a quart of leftovers, place them in a slow cooker and cover with two quarts of water; add ½ tablespoon sea salt and a 2-inch piece of kombu (edible seaweed) for potassium, calcium, and essential folate and iodine. Heat on high until liquid boils, then reduce to low until vegetables are very soft, 2–3 hours. Stir and strain through a colander, reserving and refrigerating the liquid, and discarding the rest. Heat and sip one cup of broth daily like you would hot tea, or enjoy it after a strenuous yoga class or other exercise.
    • Use herbal teas and coffee substitutes. If you insist on coffee use only organically grown beans, and grind them yourself.
    • Use spring water or filtered water for cooking and drinking. Reverse osmosis water is OK but doesn’t have many minerals.
    • Use unrefined sea salt and a variety of organic herbs and spices for food interest and appetite stimulation.
    • Make your own salad dressing using raw vinegar and extra virgin olive oil.
    • If you must use a sweetener, natural sweeteners such as raw Honey, maple syrup, Xylitol, and the herb stevia are recommended. Although these are more natural they are still simple carbohydrates and still have a profound effect on your blood sugar.
    • Cook only in glass (preferably), good quality enamelware or stainless steel.
    • Use only natural whole food supplements.
    • Do these things 90-10 (90% of the time follow the guidelines, 10% of the time give yourself a break – you live in the real world).
    • Get plenty of sleep, exercise, natural light, and minimize stress.
    • Practice forgiveness, give yourself a break!!
